Creating Your Own Domain Name

The majority of people who will build a website and attach a domain name to it think up a name without a great deal of thought. But when you are creating a domain name if you create the right one, it can literally make you thousands of dollars. Think a little about the names that are mentioned once and the name is logged into your mind; YouTube, yahoo, Google, facebook and even a funny little name like twitter. These names are worldwide and maybe they were created without much forethought, but if you could own a name like that, think how rich you would be.

When you choose a domain name, try to think up a name that has an unforgettable sound as it rolls off your tongue. This can mean two things: One, it’s easy to remember, and two it has a good sound. Additionally, just because you pick a domain name that doesn't sell for a lot today, if you hang onto it, it could potentially become sought after. An example of this is sometime during 1980’s or 90’s a person came up with a name, business.com. A person bought that name in 1997 for $150,000, and in 1999 it sold for $7.5 million.

A great domain name can be sold for many thousand of dollars if someone likes the sound and knows that it’s already drawing a great deal of business.
